If only we had ID cards

Here we go again.  Terrorism plot, 24 people in custody, all British-born.

ID cards will do nothing to help solve indigenous security problems like this.  Let's spend the scheme's operating costs of half a billion pounds a year on something that would really help, like the police and security services.

What we need is ID chips implanted in brains at birth so we can monitor movements to within a few metres and a full national database including DNA details etc. Would stop 1000's of rapists getting away with their crimes every year for a start.

In the meantime, ID cards will help cut fraud and CCTV and road pricing will help monitor people's movement.

Saying all that, the technology for biometric ID cards is not ready and the IT costs are too much.

Chips in brains sounds really scary.!! Could be abused by a nasty government eg. we are all programmed to be fascists ! Now that is terrifying thought!
